The Shelley Magazine
Having just celebrated our 400th issue (December 2014) the magazine has become an important source of local news and information for the people of Shelley and for many former inhabitants who wish to keep in touch with what is happening ‘back home’.
Originally part of the already existing Shepley Magazine, it soon became independent, grateful for the support it had received in its formation but needing to reflect the separate identity of Shelley.
Originally printed and collated in the village by teams of willing helpers, it is now professionally produced, and no longer has to be ‘cut and pasted’ as computer skills have enabled the editors to have closer oversight of the final layout.
The magazine has had only 5 editors since it began, and many people involved in its production were in at the start.
Our beautifully illustrated covers drawn by local artist Dorothy Birkinshaw must be collectors items by now, with a new drawing appearing every 3 months.
